City Budget $5,000,000 in the Hole

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Monday, February 9, 2009, in the Concord Monitor, city officials said a 17% tax hike would be needed to balance the budget without spending cuts. Revenue is expected to drop be 3.4% according to Finance Director Jim Howard.

Cuts in benefits and projects will be needed.

On the “it would be nice to have” list is $1,350,000 for a new fire department training ground. With job losses and state worker cuts and layoffs this project must wait for better times.
